Missions

You don’t have to go to the other side of the planet to find people in tough situations….they are right here in Central Oregon.  These are people God loves who need a little practical help…and they need to hear about the hope they can have in Jesus Christ.

God’s love knows NO bounds.  Jesus said we should “GO and make disciples of all nations and be His witnesses” to the ends of the earth.  Motivated by that love we are part of several missionaries and organizations that share hope with other nations.

Missions Statement

The mission of the Global Outreach Team is to recruit, send and support those who are fulfilling the Great Commission.

Purpose

Global Outreach Team exists to worship God through evangelism, discipleship and service by identifying, recruiting, mentoring, equipping, sending, upholding and supporting persons who are fulfilling the Great Commission.

The “Mission” of the church is found in the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20.  This passage is more commonly known as the Great Commission.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Jesus also showed this mission in His own life when He said, “the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost.”  Luke 19:10  “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

As a Global Outreach Team we define missions as the sending out of individuals, regardless of vocation, that are specially equipped as evangelists. These individuals cross barriers of distance, culture, and/or language in order to fulfill the Great Commission and make disciples.  Missionaries are those people that are sent to serve God in different cultural settings, seek the lost, and bring the lost into knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

The objectives of these guidelines are to:

• Help us maintain a clear focus on world missions
• Make important decisions based on logic and the leading of the Holy Spirit
• To be good stewards of all missions money
• Inform and educate new members to the team on the policies
• To maintain consistency on the team as the leadership changes
• To develop a loving accountability in the team
• To maintain alignment with church leadership

The purpose of the Global Outreach Team will be to provide various means of support through prayer, encouragement, planning, and financial resources, and to form partnerships with individuals and organizations engaged in missions outreach. The reason for sending Missionaries is to share the love of Christ with the world (John 3:16) as well as to be a blessing to all the people in the world by ministering to their needs. (Matthew 25:31-46)
