I AM NEW
Welcome to Powell Butte Church, A Message from Pastor Chris
Powell Butte Christian Church is a neighborhood church serving the community of Powell Butte and surrounding towns of Redmond, Bend and Prineville. Our vision for PBCC is constant and our goal is to come along side and provide an opportunity for Salvation, means for Sanctification and tools for Service. Your salvation is of the utmost importance to us. We provide a setting where you can get connected to God and have the life God desires you to have one of hope and purpose filled with love and peace only the Lord can bring.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
It is never easy to visit a new church for the first time so we want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a good one. Here are the answers to a few common questions. Please contact us if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable.
When are your services?
Sunday at 8:30am (contemporary), 10:15am (contemporary) and 11:00 am (traditional). The first two services are in the newer building, Worship Center. The third is in the Historic Chapel. Saturday is Cowboy Church with a potluck starting at 6:00 pm and the Word at 7:15 pm in the Historic Chapel.
How should I dress?
We do not have a dress code and it is a casual atmosphere.
Do I need to bring anything?
You can bring your own Bible if you like, we also have Bibles in the chairs or pews in front of you.
What is the service like?
The Sunday morning contemporary services start with musical worship, announcements, communion meditation followed by the Lord’s supper and offering. Next is the message which is concluded by an invitation to receive Jesus Christ as Lord or to pray with leaders of the Church. The Sunday morning traditional services follows much the same, however traditional hymns are sung.
What is the music like?
Our corporate worship times are led by our praise team and accompanied by a live praise band. The music spans a range of styles from joyful celebration to intimate communion with God. Everyone worships in their own unique way – for many, that means singing and clapping, for others it means quietly reflecting on the words. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
What is the message (sermon) like?
Every Sunday, one of our pastors teaches from God’s Word in a way that is designed to be relevant and straightforward. We trust that these messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life.
Is there an offering?
Each week there is a time to worship God through the giving of tithes and offerings. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for our regular attenders. We consider it a true joy, privilege and responsibility to invest in the Lord’s work. The offering also supports several missions which allows us to reach more people for Christ in the future. As a guest, you can fill out a Welcome Visitors/Prayer Request Card during the service. When you fill out a card just drop it in the offering box or take it to the Information Booth.
Do you take communion
Each week we celebrate communion together. Anyone can participate in this time of reflection and prayer – as long as they’ve made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. The bread and juice we share are symbols representing the body and blood of Christ that were given on our behalf so that our sins could be forgiven.
Where do the kids go?
We have a wonderful ministry for children of all ages that is available during the 8:30am and 10:00am Sunday services. Please stop by the Information Booth in the Great Hall for information about where your childrens classes will be. We will be happy to direct you to the right classrooms and help you get your children registered. Please visit our Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry page to learn more about specific ministries for each of your children.
Is there a class I can take to learn more about the church?
Yes. Several times a year we offer a class called “Exploring Membership” for those interested in learning more about Powell Butte Church and how you can partner with us. Please contact the church office to find out when the next class is scheduled.
